FAQ: Arcadia CSA
What is in a share?
That's the beauty of the CSA concept: whatever is freshest and most beautiful from the farm. You'll typically get 5 - 7 items including gorgeous greens, roots & fruits straight from our sustainably managed farm.
What does it cost?
About $25/week. We ask for payment upfront because that is when we bear most of the costs of growing the food. A CSA shares both the bounty and risk of farming evenly between the farmer and the eater.
What if I forget to pick up my share, or can't make it?
You can send someone in your place to pick it up for you. Otherwise, we'll donate it to a family in need!
Is it safe?
We have extensive, detailed safety and health protocols to which our farm staff adheres to scrupulously. When you arrive, your share will be ready to go, and if you pop your trunk, we'll put the share in there for a totally contactless delivery.
What if it is raining?
We'll be there.
I am an Arcadian Individual, Family or Sustaining member. Do I get a discount?
Yes, 10%. (We will refund you; still figuring out the coupon code!)
What if I move out of the area -- can I get a refund?
We are keeping a waitlist for shares; if we can sell yours at a pro-rated price to a new customer, we will do it! Otherwise we will donate your share to a family in need, and you will get a tax deductible credit.
Speaking of tax deductions, is this a charitable donation?
No -- you are purchasing this food at fair market value. However...
Can I buy a share to donate to a family in need?
Yes please, and that WILL be 100% tax deductible. Everyone should have great food!
Is there tax on this CSA?
Yes, Virginia requires us to tax food sales at 2.5%
